Sharing is caring part 2
Last week we presented the first of our ‘awards-secret summaries’; a selection of the Top Tips we have shared within our weekly emails. Since we are very big fans of completeness, we thought it might be good to bring the list up to a Top 10 so we are pleased to present the next 5 snippets of sound advice for your perusal: –
- Don’t just stick to your industry awards
Think ‘outside of the box’, perhaps for awards which focus on skills, culture or ethos
- Match your quieter times against the awards calendar
Make award submission less stressful by doing it when you know you’ll be less busy
- Complete your award entry in stages
Allocate smaller windows of time rather than tackling applications in one go
- Bust that jargon!
Take care to avoid any industry related jargon which may not be understood by the judges
- Make sure your Headshot is awards ready
Ask yourself if your current headshot reflects your professionalism or if it’s time for a re-shoot
There really is no substitute for preparedness when it comes to award entry and our aim here at The Awards People is put business awards well and truly on the radar and remove the barriers which can sometimes put candidates off making that initial submission.
The entry process can appear daunting at first glance and businesses are seldom gifted with the ‘spare’ time to look at new avenues for promotion, however we have heard (and seen first-hand) on many occasions, the huge difference which awards success can make to both new and established companies alike. There truly are few opportunities quite like awards to boost morale, enhance engagement and ultimately increase sales.
With the words ‘award winning’ or ‘awards finalist’ on your credentials you suddenly find that doors open, emails are responded to and calls are answered. For those reasons alone we believe award entry should be high on the ‘To Do’ list of any business of any size, within any sector. Our job here is to try to make the entire experience as stress-free as possible.
Of course if you simply feel that you have neither the time nor the writing talents to do yourself justice, The Awards People can help you to shine. From proofing and editing to compiling the entire application from start to finish, we can get to the good bits and bypass the stress.
