Matching Buzz Words with Awards Buzz
As this month marks the beginning of a new decade (yikes!) you‘ve probably already put some thought into future plans and aspirations.
When you’re reviewing your plan and setting it in stone within your business strategy, we highly recommend that you have a think about what your ‘buzz words’ are – what terms / actions / areas of the business are your main focus – and then see if there are any which match with specific categories within the 2020 Business Awards Calendar.
“Why?” we hear you ask. Well, if there’s something that is of high importance to you personally, or to your business as a whole, over the next 12, 24, 36… months, then there are few things which can highlight and support it quite as brilliantly as winning an award relating to it.
For example, let’s say that you’ve decided to do more than just your average bit to halt environmental deterioration. You decide to work sustainably and the research you do to find some target areas to action, and the subsequent application of these to your day-to-day practices, will most likely amount to a good 50% of a Sustainability Award / Sustainability category application.
Let’s face it, there are few ways to focus the mind on goals which are as effective as an awards deadline. You’re already committing to do the hard work when you introduce a new initiative or working practice. The addition of an award entry to the ‘to do’ list is merely a case of documenting its origin, application and effect as you go along! An added incentive to succeed we’d say – and what an incentive!
We often speak of the opportunities which award wins can bring: the uplift in motivation, staff engagement, raised profile, high-level networking to die for… Planning the award application alongside the project itself doubles, trebles or even quadruples the benefits you stand to gain and makes it all the more worthwhile – and exciting to boot.
Here are just a few ideas of areas where matching business initiatives with award entry might be easiest;
-
- Sustainability
- Ethical business practice
- Innovation
- Employee engagement
- Customer service
Generally speaking if you succeed in introducing a new idea into your business practice and it has a positive effect to any aspect of how you operate, how you serve your clients or how you grow, the chances are you are meeting the valued criteria for an award category and it would be a real shame not to capitalise upon this. Consider the award as the gift you give to yourself for all of your hard work!
