You have no doubt noticed by now that we often tend to talk (and write) about the additional benefits to be had by entering, and winning, awards. This week we wanted to explore yet another amazing – and very real – reward which comes from awards success: the uplift in visibility and increase in new business.
The considerable promotional boost which can be achieved by having your company name associated with an award win (or even making it to the finals / receiving a commendation) is something which we’ve heard first hand accounts of on many occasions. One of our recent vlog interviewees, Karen Cureton, described in detail how the increase in interest in her business, Karen Cureton Consulting (http://curetonconsulting.co.uk/), was not only significant, but also pretty instantaneous.
Awards success equals an increase in business
As she writes in her own blog;
“…when I actually won the East Midlands Women’s Award and wrote about it on LinkedIn, the post received a staggering 11,994 views, the highest reach I’ve ever achieved. I also found that, over the awards weekend, traffic to my website increased by a whopping 30%; and I gained a new client on the strength of that LinkedIn post alone.”
Those are tangible figures which Karen believes solely came about as a result of her awards win. On this particular occasion she did utilise the services of professional award writers (yes, dear reader, we are very proud to say that it was The Awards People) but even with the costs of this taken into consideration, the spend vs reward calculation tips generously in favour of the latter.
Now, Karen is by no means a newbie when it comes to making the very most of every platform to raise profile and receive a healthy share of voice (it’s her business after all!). She knows that visibility across all media is essential to maintain momentum within her marketplace and she believes that social media (a firm favourite with most) should only ever be one part of the total marketing mix.
Award success and raising your profile
On a lighter note, the fun aspect of participating in awards cannot be overlooked when we speak about the benefits to be gained and this was not lost on Karen either. She fondly remembers the huge number of likes, shares and ‘good luck’ messages she received and speaks of it being a time of great excitement…
“I genuinely want other businesses to experience the excitement and benefits of entering awards themselves. As I’ve found myself, it’s a hugely effective way of raising your profile and getting your name out there beyond your usual audience”
We’re sure that this is just the beginning of a whole new future of awards success for Karen and her business and we’re very proud to have been part of her journey so far. We say ‘watch this media space’ for many more notifications of wins achieved!
