By now our regular blog readers will start to recognise some awards events, maybe even specific categories, which have become real favourites of the Leicestershire (and national) business community.

This week we turn our attention to an award which we have never yet mentioned, but one which is held in very high esteem indeed, celebrating Asian partnerships UK-wide who have made significant contributions within their respective fields.

The Asian Power Couples Awards is an annual event which celebrates those who have shone brightly and made a real difference within four specific areas, namely Food & Drink, Community, Arts and Business.

Our very own Leicestershire Power Couple – Farhana and Shahid Sheikh OBE – have been named as one of the Top 5 in the latter of these categories.  The accolade (which, hands-up, we admit was nothing at all to do with The Awards People) was awarded in recognition of their high standing within the business community and their huge success in revenue generation, job creation, skills development and entrepreneurial dynamism.  All of this, of course, amidst some of the most turbulent of trading conditions many sectors have ever seen.

The team here at The Awards People were absolutely thrilled at the news of this latest award having worked with Shahid for the last five years and having witnessed, first-hand, the hard work he has done to succeed in whatever he sets his mind too.  Whilst we had no input on this particular award entry, we have seen him deservedly win over 80 awards in our time together, culminating in perhaps the biggest win of all as he was awarded the World Packaging Organisation Lifetime Achievement Award 2019.  Not only was Shahid the first UK recipient of this award but he was also the youngest person ever to win it – an immense achievement.

Shahid himself would, we are sure, admit that his own business success would not have been possible without the input and support of his amazing and equally talented wife, Farhana, so to see them both being recognised in such a high-profile manner has made us all very happy indeed.  We say a huge ‘Congratulations’ and wish them both all the very, very best for the future – which we know will be incredible!
