Within our blog posts we generally focus on the many reasons why entering awards is great for individuals and businesses of all sizes. This week we thought we’d turn it on its head a little and mention just how great it is to be able to meet and work with the absolutely amazing people who ask us to craft their award entries.

Ok, so this may be sounding just a little bit sycophantic already, but we genuinely feel lucky to be part of the process of exposing people’s greatness to the wider community. When The Awards People was in its infancy we sat down and discussed every frustration we might face. The usual suspects came out – getting the word out there about what we do, building confidence in our capabilities, handling the workload during busy periods….. tick, tick, tick – we were thoroughly prepared for all of these challenges. The only potential situation which left us scratching our heads was that of client authenticity i.e. what if we felt that a client was being less than honest with us in the information they provided of their achievements or, worse still, in our humble opinion, weren’t perhaps worthy of the award they want to enter?!

Well, not only can we report that we have never found ourselves in that position (phew!) but we have constantly been surprised by just how much people understate their accomplishments. For some there is a sense of ‘wow’ when they realise how great their story sounds when they say it out loud, but we still see others who refuse to accept that their great success is anything other than ordinary. We’ve been in this industry for a long time, promoting pretty extraordinary people and events but the details we hear from our clients as to how they have conquered doubt, personal setbacks, adverse trading conditions… (by no means an exhaustive list) we are truly inspired and driven to get the story out there for all to see.

Now it may be that we’ve just been lucky in our choice of clients (did we choose them, or did they choose us???) but we’d rather like to think that there is just a huge pool of greatness out there and it most certainly deserves to be uncovered. Just doing our bit…….
