Excited to Hear Kay Binnersley Hair’s News!
Kay is a wonderful client of ours who we had the pleasure of working with earlier this year. Just before August Bank Holiday Kay messaged Rach to ask her for her help in entering the national and extremely prestigious industry awards – the Salon Awards. Yesterday Kay announced that she had made it through to the finals in not one but three categories:
-
- West Yorkshire Salon of the Year
- Colourist of the Year
- Bridal Styling Salon of the Year
Despite this being one heck of a strange year which has seen Kay and her industry colleagues having to close their salons not once but now, sadly, for a second time Kay used Lockdown to re-evaluate her business and has made some huge decisions as to its shape, services and future.
Kay decided to totally change her business and went from being a High Street Salon welcoming 10 guests a day to creating a bespoke, private hair studio where she looks after just one client at a time. Kay now offers a totally bespoke one-to-one service where she looks after a maximum of 3 clients a day.
During Lockdown Kay continued to invest in herself learning new skills as well as refreshing old skills too. Kay says that she has received much support, love and encouragement from family, friends, clients, Facebook families, Facebook groups and Facebook friends saying they inspire her to “step out there and try to be better”.
Last year Kay set herself a very clear goal to get placed in 6 awards. So far this year (and yes, we say so far!) Kay’s been a finalist in 7 awards winning 1 and taking 2 silver places. She was also shortlisted for the Vidal Sassoon Fellowship Scholarship which is no mean feat at all!
This phenomenal and inspiring lady deserves all the success in the world and we wish her well for the Salon Awards. Let’s leave the last word to Kay, “I am so blessed. I want to say good luck to all the finalists of the Salon Awards and to urge everyone to never give up on your dreams. I also want to say thank you to Rachel Hargrave who helped me pull together these 3 nominations. It was worth that long weekend getting this written up and entered!”
Yes Kay, it certainly was!
Good luck and HUGE congratulations x
